Commitment to Sustainability and Climate Action
Castell Son Claret promotes several initiatives to support responsible and sustainable tourism, including the installation of smart water and electricity meters, an energy monitoring system, and a food waste reduction and waste management plan developed in collaboration with NexBiolinea.
These actions have been made possible thanks to a subsidy of 30,329.78 EUR, granted under the de minimis aid programme for energy efficiency and circular economy projects in tourist establishments, as part of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, funded by the European Union – Next Generation EU.
Renewable Thermal Installation (RD 1124/2021)
Castell Son Claret continues to strengthen its commitment to reducing CO₂ emissions and contributing to global climate action with a significant upgrade of its energy systems. As part of this initiative, the hotel has expanded its existing solar installation with a new 50 kW inverter and 133 high-efficiency 550 W photovoltaic panels.
This extension will generate over 99.55 MWh of renewable energy per year, preventing the release of 45.5 tonnes of CO₂ annually. In addition, the property has implemented a multi-purpose heat pump capable of producing heating and cooling simultaneously, as well as a water-to-water heat pump (hydrothermal system) for domestic hot water production. These systems enable the progressive decarbonisation of the hotel’s boiler room.
This installation has been co-financed through the European Union’s NextGenerationEU funds under the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
