As long as since the opening of “Castell Son Claret” in 2013 bringing the most talented soloists from Salzburg Festival’s Young Singers Project to the island for the first time the Castell Classics have become a tradition and a highlight on Mallorca ‘s summer events calendar for classical music aficionados and culinary lovers alike.

Our commitment to classical music and support of the local community is stronger than ever and I am delighted to share with you that Castell Son Claret has become the principal sponsor of the acclaimed Symphony Orchestra of the Balearic Islands for the next 15 years. I am very pleased that can now offer our guests exclusive access to many performances and the opportunity to meet some of the top artists of the classical music world. In 2023, the opening of ‘La Caixa De Musica’, the future home of the Symphony Orchestra and Palma´s new and modern concert hall, will add a further dimension to our collaboration, as it brings with it the opportunity for many more musical moments for us all. The Kühne-Stiftung, a foundation established by the owners of Castell Son Claret, proudly supports this project and the many festivals we all have the opportunity to benefit from.

I am also happy to say that Castell Classics will return in 2021, reaching new heights with a star-filled program reflecting our continuous collaboration with the finest European music festivals and world-renowned artists. We will begin the 2021 Castell Classics series on 3rd June, when welcoming Teatro Maggio Fiorentino for their debut season with us. On 7th July, the president of the Salzburg Festival, Dr. Helga Rabl-Stadler, will present a select group of classical music’s future stars from the Young Singers Project as they perform their only concert outside of Salzburg this year. We will conclude our musical journey on the 11th August with an exclusive concert by young artists from The Hamburg State Opera, accompanied by musicians from the Symphony Orchestra of the Balearic Islands.”

Teatro Maggio Fiorentino

3rd June 2021

Italian passion

Making their debut in our Castell Classics program, an exclusive group of the best artists from the Teatro Maggio Fiorentino will make the journey from Florence to Mallorca. Led by their new and internationally renowned artistic director, Mr. Alexander Perira, the artists will present a light and entertaining program that pays special attention to many of our favourite Italian arias.

Italy’s first festival, Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino was founded in 1933 with the aim of presenting contemporary and forgotten operas in visually dramatic productions. Taking place annually between April and June, the festival moved locations for many years before finally finding a home in Florence in 2011, when the new opera house, the Teatro dell’Opera di Firenze, was inaugurated.

Salzburg Festival

7th July 2021

The talented soloists

The parting president of the Salzburg Festival, Dr. Helga Rabl-Stadler, will bring a group of the best soloists from the Festival’s Young Singers Project to perform their only concert this year outside Salzburg at Castell Son Claret. The Salzburg Festival is the largest and most important annual event in classical music.

Founded in 2008, the Young Singers Project is a world-class platform for young classical singers, setting the benchmark for the next generation. Selected through auditions, young singers follow a curriculum that doesn’t only include musical education and repertoire expansion, but also staged rehearsals and performances to an international audience at the Salzburg Summer Festival.

The Hamburg State Opera

11th August 2021

Hamburg meets Mallorca

Hamburg State Opera’s reputation for artistic creativity has developed over centuries and Castell Son Claret is very proud to have the opportunity to host a selection of most talented voices of the Opera Studio. The singers will offer a varied program with a summer-themed score, supported by musicians from the Symphony Orchestra of the Balearic Islands. This will be the grand finale of this year´s Castell Classics and will celebrate the hotel´s new partnership with this important local partner.

The Hamburg State Opera was founded over three centuries ago in 1678 following a public vote. With a wealth of art-loving citizens, Hamburg rapidly became the leading musical centre of the German Baroque, a reputation the city retains to this day with the recent completion of the world’s most modern concert hall, the Elbphilharmonie.
